πΌπΏ Freesia Cut Flower Care Guide:
1. Trim the stems: β’ Cut 2β3 cm off the stem bottoms at a diagonal angle with a sharp, clean knife or scissors. β’ Re-cut every 2β3 days to maintain good water uptake.
2. Use fresh, clean water: β’ Fill a vase with cool, clean water β Freesia is sensitive to bacteria. β’ Change the water every 1β2 days.
3. Remove lower leaves: β’ Strip off any leaves that fall below the waterline to prevent rotting and water contamination.
4. Add flower food (recommended): β’ Use a commercial flower preservative to extend vase life. β’ Optional mix: 1 tsp sugar + a few drops of lemon juice or vinegar.
5. Place in a cool, bright area: β’ Ideal temperature: 10β16Β°C. β’ Avoid direct sunlight, drafts, heaters, and ripening fruit (which emits ethylene gas that shortens vase life).
6. Let buds open naturally: β’ Freesias open slowly. To encourage blooming, place in a bright room (but not in direct sun). β’ Once open, move to a cooler spot to extend freshness.
7. Vase life: β’ Freesia typically lasts 5β7 days, sometimes up to 10 days with excellent care.
πΏ Extra Tip: Freesiaβs blooms open from the base of the stem upward, so remove spent lower flowers to keep the arrangement looking fresh
