🌸🛡️ Protea Cut Flower Care Guide:

(Includes King Protea, Pink Ice, Safari Sunset, etc.)

1. Trim the stems: • Cut 2–3 cm off the bottom of each stem at a diagonal angle using sharp, clean scissors or a knife. • Re-cut every 3–4 days to refresh water uptake.

2. Use fresh, clean water: • Fill a vase with cool to room-temperature water. Proteas are hardy but still benefit from clean water. • Change water every 2–3 days.

3. Remove lower leaves: • Strip any leaves or side shoots that will be below the waterline to prevent rot and bacteria.

4. Skip sugary flower food: • Do not use traditional flower food with sugar — Proteas are from dry, nutrient-poor soils and prefer clean water. • If needed, use a low-sugar floral preservative or nothing at all.

5. Keep in a cool, dry place: • Ideal temperature: 10–20°C. • Avoid direct sun, high humidity, heaters, and ethylene gas (from ripening fruit).

6. Handle with care: • Protea heads are firm but should be handled gently to prevent bruising or snapping at the base.

7. Dry beautifully: • Proteas dry exceptionally well. When vase life ends, hang them upside down in a cool, dark place to preserve their shape and color.

8. Vase life: • Proteas last 2–3 weeks as fresh cut flowers one of the longest-lasting types available
