Usually 6 – 8 blooms per flower stem and the petals often have a marbled appearance. The symbol for friendship Vanda is the national flower of Singapore and is also often used in flower crowns in Hawaii. There are around 100 Vanda species known. The general symbolism of the orchid is pure friendship. The blue Vanda, the original color of this flower, stands for peace in India.

💠🌺 Vanda Orchid (Cut Flower) Care Guide 📝:

Vanda orchids are often used in high-end floral design. They have no true stem and are sometimes displayed without water when wired or used in foam. However, they can last longer in water with proper care.

✅ 1. Cut and hydrate the stem carefully • Cut 1–2 cm off the stem base with a clean, sharp knife. • If using stemmed Vanda sprays, place them immediately in clean, room-temperature water. • Re-cut every 2–3 days.

💧2. Use shallow, clean water • Vanda orchids don’t absorb much water — fill only 2–5 cm in the vase. • Change water every 2–3 days. 

🧼 3. Use a spotless vase • Orchids are highly sensitive to bacteria. Always use a sterilized glass or ceramic vase. 

🌤️ 4. Keep in a cool, humid environment • Best temperature: 18–24°C • Avoid: • Direct sun • Drafts or fans • Heat sources (radiators, ovens) • Cold air or refrigeration 

🍋 5. Avoid sugary preservatives • Vanda orchids do not need traditional flower food. • Plain water or an orchid-specific preservative is best. • Sugar-based solutions may shorten their vase life. 

🍎 6. Keep away from fruit • Ethylene gas from ripening fruit causes early wilting in orchids. 

🪷 7. Vase life • With proper care, Vanda orchids can last 10–20 days as cut flowers. • Individual blooms may last even longer if floated in water after the stem fades.
